About Us
DMEC Training & Consulting is a training and consulting company based out of Rockford, Illinois. We are located 90 minutes from the Chicagoland area, as well as only 90 minutes from Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We offer classes for Illinois and Florida concealed carry licenses, advanced pistol and rifle training, law enforcement training, and youth classes. We also offer consulting in church and business security, as well as active shooter training. We shoot at a private, outdoor range 20 minutes west of Rockford. We are also fully mobile and can be hosted at your local range, club, or department.
Quality Training
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, from new shooters to active law enforcement and military personnel. Our philosophy is the same; regardless of your background or current skill level, everyone has room to learn and evolve as a shooter. We pride ourselves on teach A way, and not THE way.
Certified and Insured
Our Lead Instructor is current law enforcement with over 19 years of experience. He is certified Master Firearms Instructor through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, and fully insured. Safety on the range is the #1 priority of any class. Every student, regardless of training background or current skill level, will receive personal attention and feedback to make them a more proficient and capable shooter. We want you properly trained, and having the proper mindset to prevail and win.
Owner, Lead Instructor: Jared Smith8
Jared currently serves in law enforcement as a Corrections Officer for a large jail in Northern Illinois. He has worked there for 19 years. Jared is a member of the CERT Team and is assigned to the department's full time training division. He is a Master Firearms Instructor (PTI) and armorer for the Glock and AR15 platform. He is certified through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) as a Firearms Instructor, Tactical Firearms Instructor, and Patrol Rifle Instructor. Other certifications include Safariland Less Lethal, Tac Medic, ALERRT active shooter trainer, RDS Pistol Instructor, CQB Instructor, and others. He founded DMEC in 2004 to serve as a training ground for civilian and law enforcement shooters. A perpetual student himself, he attends numerous classes each year, to better shape himself as an instructor, and to provide better content and classes for his students.
